Firstly, let me take the opportunity to thank you! No matter what you write for me, I am definitely really happy and grateful to you! Now to help you out a little, I've listed some of my squicks, and tried to include a prompt for each pairing. I've also noted what my top pairing preferences are. Feel free to disregard the preferences and the prompts if your muse takes you a different direction! I've asked for all of these because I would be really happy to recieve anything for any of them!

Wow this is longer than I intended )

If you have any questions or need any clarification about what I like about any of the pairings, or any thoughts or feelings I have about specific characters, feel free to drop an anonymous comment and I'll answer you asap! Thank you so so much, I'm really excited to see what you write!

Happy New Year! It's been a year of ups and downs, but with the new year comes new opportunities for making things better.

I don't have much to say, really (I never do), but I want to say thank you to everyone I met in 2012. I know some people don't consider online friendships "real", but they are as real -- perhaps even more so -- as any irl friendship I have. So to very, Ver, Lish, Inoru, Qem, Kimmie, and everyone else in the Hikago chat, I love you all.

And to reconnecting with old friends that I missed very much as well! Whitney, you are my sunshine <3
This next one should be pretty short, since it's really one line that ruins the whole song for me. Which is a shame in some cases, because one poorly-written line can destroy an otherwise catchy song.

Now I'm not saying this song is catchy, at least not for me. It's just been on the radio a lot for the last year, and I didn't used to hate it the way I do now. I used to tolerate it.

Today's song is "Breakeven" by The Script.

First verse is fine, it's the second verse where my problem begins. The song starts out fine enough, it seems like it's going to be a typical breakup song, and in many ways it is, but for one teensy tiny bit. Lyric quoting time.

Her best days will be some of my worst
She finally met a man that's gonna put her first
While I'm wide awake she's no trouble sleeping
'Cause when a heart breaks no it don't breakeven... even... no

It's the second line. It implies that the reason dude is now a single man is because he was neglecting the woman. Or maybe not neglecting, but at least she felt as though she wasn't a priority in his life, which is a sucky way to feel. So she moved on to someone who would make her happy. And now he spends a whole song whining and griping about how he's sooooo heartbroken and she's so happy. Well duh, the relationship ended because apparently you weren't making her happy, dude. Which means she was unhappy. Now it's your turn to feel the pain. Cry more.

Someone really needs to have an editor look over lyrics before they're released as hit songs, I swear.

I feel like a zombie, and I'm so tired I'm vaguely nauseated.

Note to self, four hours of sleep before work is probably detrimental to your health.

/will totally disregard this in the future

ETA: the sound of my own voice annoys me so bad. How do people put up with me????

For my next blog post I was actually planning on talking about kinks and how mine are a little weird and sometimes oddly specific, but it wasn't coming out right. And then I heard a song on the radio that annoys me deeply, so I figured I'd rant about that for a couple of paragraphs.

I watched a comedy bit on youtube once that says that listening to the lyrics of a song will completely ruin it for you (if you want to watch it, it's here: ). I find that this is generally not the case, but for this song I have to completely agree. Though in all honesty, I didn't actually like the song in the first place, since it sounds kind of whiny.

What song am I talking about? I hear you cry. James Blunt's "You're Beautiful". I apologize in advance to anyone who likes this song.

It starts out okay, except for the whiny singing part, and then it turns into this weird... I don't even know how to describe it. Let me quote lyrics.

My life is brilliant.
My love is pure.
I saw an angel.
Of that I'm sure.

Okay, so far normal right? Sounds like it's going to be a standard schmoopy love song.

She smiled at me on the subway.
She was with another man.
But I won't lose no sleep on that,
'Cause I've got a plan.

Still not too bad, I guess. Unless dude's plan is to kill the guy she's with, then that would be pretty terrible. But the first annoying thing about this song is that the plan he's all fired up about in that last line never makes an appearance again. It goes straight into the chorus, and there's no plan of action in sight.

You're beautiful. You're beautiful.
You're beautiful, it's true.
I saw your face in a crowded place,
And I don't know what to do,
'Cause I'll never be with you.

So... this woman's only distinguishing feature is that she has greater than average looks. And dude saw her for all of thirty seconds and is now crooning songs of eternal woe at not having a chance to be with her. First off, she seems to be attached already (though for all we know the man she's with is just a friend, or a brother or something). Secondly, how does this guy know that she doesn't have a hideous personality, or that their interests and goals don't completely clash? I may be over-analyzing a stupid pop song, but there is something deeply wrong with this guy's mindset. Thirty seconds is not enough to create a deep attachment over anything. Not a woman, not a sandwich, not a pet.

Okay maybe a pet, but kittens are fluffy wuffy adorable.

Yeah, she caught my eye,
As we walked on by.
She could see from my face that I was,
Flying high,

Two things. High is right; you've gotta be high for this to make any rational sense. And how does he know what she could see? He doesn't know her.

And I don't think that I'll see her again,
But we shared a moment that will last till the end.

That first line is the one that makes the most sense in this entire travesty. The second one... eh. Dude may have had a moment, but again he doesn't know her. Whatever moment he may have felt could have just been indigestion for her. Or something. And last till the end of what? The day? His lunch break?

Oh boy, more chorus coming up. We'll skip the repetition because we already know what I think about the chorus. I just want to say that this is the part of the song that sounds the whiniest. Did this song seriously get onto the top 100 list? I should probably check, but I think my faith in humanity might dip a little lower than normal if I do.

LAST PART thank god

You're beautiful. You're beautiful.
You're beautiful, it's true.
There must be an angel with a smile on her face,
When she thought up that I should be with you.

Delusions are awesome. If some theological entity decided that this guy should be with someone, wouldn't it stand to reason that said entity would put into place more of a meeting than just a random encounter on the subway where no words are exchanged? Unless this guy feels like this about every beautiful woman he has a non-encounter with. It makes me think that this guy might write ballads about the women he sees in television advertisements.

And that's just a little creepy.

But it's time to face the truth,
I will never be with you.

It's a good rule to end with sanity. And that's what we get at least. Not to say he won't ever see this woman again, but the chances are low for a repeat of this non-encounter. At least he recognizes it and can admit it. Admitting it is the first step to recovery after all.

And... I think that's all the snark I have in me for this song. I don't expect epic poetry in my popular music, but I do expect the level of creepy to be less than what is displayed here. Are my standards too high?

Funnily enough, that same comedian wrote a parody love song that goes together perfectly with this

I am so freaking charmed by cookingwithdog, I have watched most of the episodes in the last few days. GO THERE AND WATCH, SERIOUSLY

SERIOUSLY HOW CAN YOU NOT LOVE THIS SHOW IT'S SO CUTE AND EDUCATIONAL. I'm just sad that I didn't find this channel sooner.
My actual train of thought on the way home from work today:

Oh man I'm glad work is over that was killer
I hate nine in the morning
Ooh I like this song, it's super 80s!
This song sucks
Gotta remember to drop off the PSP to fedex today
Ew the rain is starting to look chunky I hope it doesn't snow that would suck
I'm probably going to forget to go to fedex
I should go and do karaoke sometime
Rain, why are you so finicky, either do it or don't, not this in-between bullshit
I hate you I5
Man is my blind go idea lame? I should think of something else
Gotta revise that silly commentbox tie fic
Remember to call the mechanic! I'm so gonna forget.

Good news: I remembered to go to fedex. Bad news: I forgot to call the mechanic.

of course it was on a 9x9 board, but there was no handicap! I kicked that AI's ass! by 70.5 moku on one of them!! (Maybe it was going easy on me I don't even know but who cares I beat it)

Got my Sephora stuff today. As I feared, the perfume was not up my alley so I gave it to my mother as an early mother's day gift since it was a scent that she would enjoy. She was pretty happy about the surprise. They sent along a couple of perfume samples, and I really like one of them, so I'll probably end up getting that instead. It's light and floral but not overpowering or sickeningly sweet as some florals can be.

I went out today! On an actual outing! It was kind of nice, one of my coworkers and I grabbed lunch and gossiped. Our favorite supervisor had a mental breakdown the other day, because of a douchebag she was dating who happens to work in the same building. He's being an ass about the whole thing, and I just want to kick him in the nads, but that would get her in trouble. It's seriously frustrating ugh.

Why is music so supremely inspiring for writing purposes? Another fic I'll never write popped into my head earlier today :|

Community continues to be amazing (I say this even though I've already caught up lol)

I don't want to work tomorrow. Anybody want to call me and let me sell them a cruise tomorrow afternoon? Sigh so tired of being a travel agent, I hate January and February. Sigh. SIGH.

I had something else to talk about but I can't remember what.

Someone invent self-revising fiction.

I've always wanted to write a choose your own adventure story. Like, for ten years or something.

And it occurs to me that livejournal/dreamwidth is probably an excellent medium for such a thing to happen.

Bet it's already been done before, but I haven't seen/read any so I'm not afraid of stealing ideas.

But still.

It would be fun.

Brainstorming now.

I am about to blow $95 on sephora stuff, and I need someone to talk me out of it. HELP.

I'm having buyer's remorse (I always get it before making large purchases, rather than after. Helps me not... buy... stuff. Is it normal to get pre-buying buyer's remorse?)

But the perfume comes with a free tote! It's really cute! I'm worried about not liking the perfume, but verbena smells nice usually!

Also the blush and lipgloss combo is a nice color!

And the body wash and lotion are gardenia scented! Gardenias are nice! Also it's vegan!

I don't actually buy much for myself usually. The last purchase I made was $30 for some on sale manga from akadot, and before that... I can't actually remember.

DO I? DON'T I? ahhhhh

On an unrelated note, I've been watching a lot of Community. I get tons of secondhand embarrassment at times, but overall it's hilarious. I want to play in a Dungeons and Dragons game run by Abed XD

So I have this app on my phone, it's a kanji dictionary. Super helpful let me tell you. And the best part is that it has a quiz! So I've been brushing up on my kanji! It's nice since I haven't taken a Japanese class in... much longer than I'm beginning to be willing to admit

Well hello there dreamwidth. I never use you, but I should probably start haha. I haven't done any active blogging in forever, so this will be more of a list format than a proper blog. Whatever a proper blog is lol.

So I took a social anxiety test this evening. And surprising no one, I apparently have severe social phobia. A score of 95 or higher is severe, and I got a 135 lol lol lol.

/huddles in a corner oh god my brain is so messed up

So I actually have to work in six hours and I should be sleeping, but then this fanfic that's been eating at my brain since last summer spat another scene at me as I was starting to fall asleep. I was afraid I'd lose it, so I decided I'd just type it up.

And that's how Liz wrote 1000 words in 20 minutes. I apparently need to write Hikaru no Go fic when I'm desperately trying to sleep so I don't grouch at people at work.

Snowpocalypse 2012 in Washington is hopefully over since it's raining and getting rid of the snow, but apparently round two is scheduled for this weekend? Whatever, I just hope they don't close down the Tacoma Narrows bridge again because that's my only path to civilization.

Well, not -only-, but who wants to drive an extra 50 miles to go the long way when it's only 10 miles across the bridge. Not me, that's who.

I really need to sleep so I'll end this here before I have a chance to ramble about more fanfic. Hikaru no Go, what are you doing to me.

Just wait until I rewatch Kyou Kara Maou and Prince of Tennis sigh SIGH

If I were to consider getting back into Pokemon (I haven't played since the original Red and Blue versions), what game should I go with? Pre-order the new Heartgold or Soulsilver? Go with Platium? Diamond? Pearl? My DS needs more use, and I wanna be the very best all of a sudden.
